what is the excess?
The excess is the portion of each and every claim which you are
required to pay when you make a claim.
There is usually a minimum excess which you
are required to pay, but you can choose to pay a higher excess in
order to reduce your premiums.
On some policies, there are different excesses
for different policy items, such as a higher excess (typically
£1,000) for claims for subsidence.
