David joined Defaqto in May 2004 when it acquired the financial research company of Blay’s Guides Ltd, where he had 16 years of banking research and consultancy experience for the majority of which he was a director.
David is currently Insight Analyst for Banking. His areas of specialism include credit cards, current accounts, equity release, mortgages, savings and unsecured loans. As financial products can be relatively complex, David is very keen to educate consumers about how to choose the best financial products for their circumstances, and also believes that it is essential that consumers regularly review their existing products to ensure that they still provide the best vehicle for their needs.
David’s key responsibilities include reviewing, developing and producing banking-related Star Ratings, authoring publications and commentary on key issues within the sector, producing bespoke case studies and research for providers and intermediaries, representing Defaqto at industry forums and events, and acting as a media spokesperson for Defaqto.
David’s professional qualifications include ACII, CeMAP and CeRER, and he holds an Honours degree from Exeter University. He is also a director of a commercial property company.
