We've been producing Star Ratings since 2000 and they now cover more than 90 separate areas. In the intermediated space, our Star Ratings cover general insurance and life and protection.

Defaqto Star Ratings allow people to see the quality of products and policies at a glance. We rate every product on the market, on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. A 1 Star product covers the basics, whereas a 5 Star product is one of the most comprehensive on the market.

Uniquely, we rate the products not the providers and do not knowingly exclude any products in the areas covered by our Star Ratings. In addition, we do not assess price in the calculation of Star Ratings.

We apply a transparent, stringent and consistent methodology to ensure that Star Ratings continue to reflect industry, market, and consumer and adviser trends and developments.
